Music rooted in real stories, real emotion, and the moments that shape us. “After He’s Gone” is more than a song—it’s a reflection on love, legacy, and the things we often don’t realize until it’s too late.

The Story

After He's Gone

I wrote “After He’s Gone” from a place that took a lifetime to fully understand. My dad was always there. Not in loud or obvious ways, but in the steady, quiet presence that never left—running beside me when I learned to ride a bike, picking me up when I fell, and standing behind me through every stage of life. As a kid, then a teenager, and even into adulthood, I didn’t always recognize what that meant. I pushed away, I thought I had it figured out, and I never saw the weight he was carrying for me when no one else was looking. He was the one who took on the burdens so I didn’t have to. The one who wanted to see me go further than he ever could. The one who would have given anything just to see me do better than him. It wasn’t until after he was gone—and as the years passed—that everything became clear. The sacrifices. The patience. The love that never asked for recognition. This song comes from that realization… and from the regret that some of those things were never said out loud.

Releasing this now, 25 years after we laid him to rest, makes it even more personal. It’s not just a song—it’s a reflection, a thank you, and a reminder that some of the most important things in life are only understood in hindsight.

If this story feels familiar, I hope it reminds you to hold on a little tighter, say the words while you can, and never take those quiet acts of love for granted.
